Alan Shearer Foundation Golf Day 2017

7 September 2017

Alan Shearer Foundation Golf Day 2017

Close House has, once again played host to our annual Foundation Golf Day.

The Colt Course, set in 200 acres of breathtaking Northumberland countryside - and soon to be host of this year's British Masters - was, as ever, in pristine condition for our event.

Unfortunately, due to an injury, Alan was unable to play golf and captain his team, so his son, Will, was more than happy to step in to support the Foundation. Alan joked that his main job of the day was to “try and put the other golfers off”!

This year's event attracted teams from Southampton, Liverpool and Manchester, as well as local business owners, who competed throughout the day in a variety of competitions, such as “nearest the pin” to win a year's free car insurance.

Mancini Clothing generously donated golf shirts for every player to wear, so the keen golfers looked as exceptional on the day as the stunning surroundings - the sun even shone for us.

The evening auction generated great interest from the golfers, who eagerly bid for the prize of a place in this year's British Masters pro-am.

The event raised the incredible amount of £48,946.72 for the Foundation, giving an important boost to funds raised in support of our specialist disability services at the Alan Shearer Centre.

We would like to thank everyone who participated, donated and made the day a success!
