She's Got a Ticket to Ride

June 2012

Lucky Anne Molyneux experienced a 70th birthday party with a difference recently and supported The Alan Shearer Foundation as part of the celebrations.

Instead of presents Anne, who lives in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham asked all her family and friends to donate money to us adding an impressive £250 to our fundraising total. Anne found out about the work of the Foundation through her local parish priest Father Michael Campion who has been a supporter of St Cuthberts Care for many years.

"When Father Campion told me about the good work everyone is doing I decided the donations from my birthday party would be the ideal way to support you," said Anne. "Everyone had a brilliant day, the majority of my guests all gave cash donations and I was very pleased with the amount as a lot of my family are pensioners."

Anne certainly didn't lose out on her special day as she enjoyed the ride of a lifetime to her party on a restored 1949 ex-United bus which appeared in the TV series Heartbeat. It was even emblazoned with her nickname MolyAnne and, complete with the 1940s jacket, hat and ticket machine of a bus conductress, Anne welcomed her guests aboard and gave them all a ticket to ride.
