Artist donates his work to us

June 2012

James Richardson with the painting he is donating for auction

Local artist James Richardson, who can count a commissioned portrait of a former Lord Mayor of Newcastle among his achievements, has donated his latest work to the Foundation for auction and he has also pledged to give us 10 per cent from the sale of further paintings.

James, who trained in commercial art at college and now runs his own business Janpa-art, would have earned hundreds of pounds from the sale of his copy of The Pearl Earring by Jan Vermeer but was delighted to offer the painting to benefit the Foundation instead.

"I saw the launch of the Foundation on television and was very impressed," said James from Wallsend. "I like it because it's a local cause and benefits some really needy people. We can often forget the struggles that go on here on the doorstep, these brave families are in this situation through no fault of their own and I'm pleased to be supporting them."

Painted in acrylic on stretched canvas measuring 18 x 24 inches and framed, the painting represents one of a wide range of artistic styles which James favours including pet portraits, seascapes and landscapes. You can see more of James' work and find out how to contact him on his website -
