Alan Shearer presents Peter Gray with keys to his car prize

Meeting Alan Shearer is prize enough says a charity car winner who is giving the keys to his brand new Renault Twingo to his wife.

Peter Gray, from Low Fell, Gateshead, won the car in the Alan Shearer Foundation raffle.

Appearing at an official handover ceremony with his wife, Diane, Peter joked: "Di can have the car so long as I get to have my photo taken with Alan Shearer! I bought the £5 ticket at a Falcon's Rugby match in November where Alan was promoting the charity raffle. I can't believe I've won," he said.

The draw for the Benfield Renault donated car raised over £26,000 for the Foundation which supports St Cuthberts Care's work with people with disabilities at the Alan Shearer Centre.

Peter, who says he's been buying his cars from Benfield Motors for the last 26 years, will also receive a year's free insurance which was donated to the charity by Collingwood Insurance Services.
