The 2015 Great North Runners Visit Alan Shearer Centre

28 August 2015

Our runners pose infront of the Alan Shearer Centre

The Alan Shearer Foundation's Great North Runners took a night off from their busy training schedule to come and visit the Alan Shearer Centre.

Centre manager, Amanda Head, showed the runners around the amazing facilities on offer and our Great North Runners got a first-hand look at how all the money they are raising will go to help disabled people who use the centre.

With only one week to go, the runners have been stepping up their training in different ways in order to prepare for the infamous 13 mile journey across the North East, which takes place on Sunday 13 September.

Jake Timothy-Dorward has been roping all of his friends into playing tennis in a bid to get fitter for the race, while Aisling Marsh completed a 20km distance run last weekend!

We even have our very own rock star, Mike March, who is aiming to complete the entire Great North Run while playing Mark Knopfler's hit, "Going Home", on his electric guitar- which has been specially decorated for the occasion.

It's not just the adults who have been training hard- seven year old Keira MacCabe is our Junior Great North Runner and she'll be taking part in the popular mini marathon on Saturday, 12 September.

If you'd like to make a donation that will help disabled people in the region, there's still plenty of time to support our runners. Just visit our donation page:
